How to Share a ChatGPT Conversation with Support
Overview
If support needs to review what happened in your ChatGPT conversation, you can share the chat by creating a public ChatGPT link or by saving the chat as a PDF.
Only share the conversation that is relevant to your support request.
Option 1: Share the ChatGPT chat link
- Open the ChatGPT conversation you want support to review.
- Click Share in the top-right corner of the chat.
- There will be a short spinning animation.
- A pop up will appear in the top middle of the screen.
- Your link will automatically copied to the clipboard.
- Paste the link into your support message.
Important privacy note
A public link means anyone with that link can view the shared chat. Only create and send the link if you are comfortable sharing the contents of that conversation with support.
ChatGPT will not include future messages shared conversation. If you continue the conversation after creating the link, those later messages may not appear in the shared version. Create a new share link if support needs to see the updated conversation.
Option 2: Save the ChatGPT conversation as a PDF
Use this option if you do not want to send a public ChatGPT link or if support asks for a file attachment.
- Open the ChatGPT conversation you want to share.
- Open your browser’s print option.
- On most browsers, press Ctrl + P on Windows or Command + P on Mac.
- Choose a PDF option, such as Save as PDF or Microsoft Print to PDF.
- Make sure the full chat is included in the preview.
- Click Save or Print.
- Give the file a clear name, such as ChatGPT conversation for Copy Viking support.
- Attach the PDF to your support message.
Troubleshooting
I do not see the Share button
Make sure you are inside the specific ChatGPT conversation, not just on the ChatGPT home screen or project screen.
My shared link is missing newer messages
ChatGPT will not include future messages shared conversation. Create a new public link after the latest messages have been added.
The PDF only saves one page
Open the print preview and check the page range before saving. Make sure the browser is set to include the full conversation rather than only the visible screen.
